A harpist and singer from the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, Màiri is steeped in traditional Gaidhlig culture. However, her music has a bit of a twist.....

Also trained as a classical and contemporary performer she has extensive experience in orchestral, chamber and solo performance in a variety of genres and on various types of harps - Concert Harp, Clàrsach (Celtic Lever Harp) and Electro-Harp. As a result, Màiri’s playing and writing style has a traditional feel with a modern edge.

She is currently working as a freelance artist & teacher. She has a consultancy with An Comunn Gàidhealach working on their archives and with their music committee on the prescribed pieces for each year’s Royal National Mòd. She also teaches individual students from home - Clàrsach, Piano/Keyboard & Gaelic singing.

During her spare time Màiri conducts two choirs in the Isle of Lewis - Còisir Ghàidhligh Chàrlabhaigh (Senior) and Còisir Òg an Rubha (Junior). Although the bulk of her teaching is from home, she travels out to Ness every week to teach Keyboard & Clàrsach classes at Taigh Dhonnchaidh, a dedicated centre for Gàidhlig music, endorsed by Fèisean nan Gàidheal. She also teaches regularly for Fèis Eilean an Fhràoich (Stornoway) and Fèis an Rubha (Point).

Màiri is a life member and on the committee of the Lewis Branch of the Clàrsach Society, who run informal clàrsach sessions and workshops.
